Well, the Indelicates album that I played pedal steel, banjo, accordian, weisenborn, bass and dobro on is officially out. It’s called David Koresh Superstar and it’s getting really good reviews so far. My wife Joie Mikitson produced it and we even sing a little on this track too…can you pick us out?

Just got back from a week in Austin where I recorded some songs at Ramble Creek Studio with UK band The Indelicates. These songs will be on their upcoming new album, entitled ‘David Koresh Superstar.’ It’s a concept album about…you guessed it…David Koresh. They are incredibly talented and we had a blast – I am looking forward to hearing the final mixes.

Longital and Hyperpotamus at Quencherspotam

This is a photo I took when I went to see Longital at the Quenchers. Slovakian pop. This is a great segment from WBEZ about them.

Hyperpotamus was also amazing.

Using a Loop Station and the 3 mics (left, center, and right in the stereo field) he composed loops live with just his voice and then sang over the top of what he created. His use of more complex harmonies and rhythms made it much more enjoyable than anyone else I’ve seen or heard that utilize the same techniques.

Some Press for Doug Burr

Dallas Observer names Doug Burr’s On Promenade as one of the best area album releases of the ’00′s. This is the first album that I helped produce. This was also one of the first occasions where I played most of the electric guitar parts as opposed to just playing pedal steel on the sessions.
